三人展『FAMILIAR』

この度、立花光、戸田樹、横井菜々の三人展『FAMILIAR』を、GALLERY GARAGEにて開催します。

「見覚えのある」「馴染みのある」を意味する本展のタイトルは、立花、戸田、横井の三人が扱う、どこにでもある風景や図像に由来しています。それらは多くの人に見覚えを感じさせる一方で、それらと出会い、関わる経験は一人ひとり異なる。本展は、この見覚えと個別の経験の関係を、三人に共通する手工性を手がかりに考えます。素材にふれ、形作ることは、ありふれたものの質感や形の違いに注意を向け、その一つひとつとの関わりを確かめることでもある。事物を介して、異なる経験のあいだに何が共有され、どのような違いが残るだろうか。ぜひご高覧ください。

FAMILIAR
A three-person exhibition by Hikaru Tachibana, Itsuki Toda, and Nana Yokoi

The title FAMILIAR refers to a sense of recognition and to things that feel familiar, and comes from the ordinary landscapes and images that appear in the work of the three artists. While these may feel familiar to many people, the ways in which we encounter and relate to them differ from person to person. Taking the artists’ shared engagement with handwork as a point of departure, this exhibition considers the relationship between the familiar and individual experience. To touch a material and give it form is also to attend to subtle differences in the textures and shapes of ordinary things, and to reconsider our relationship with each of them. Through objects, what can be shared between different experiences, and what differences remain?

Slides 2–4 show previous works by the artists. These works will not be exhibited in FAMILIAR.
